A 10-year-old boy was killed Saturday when the four-wheeler he was driving went out of control, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

About 8:30 p.m., the boy, whose name was not released, was driving in a pasture on private property, about 5 miles west and 2.5 miles south of Elk City in Beckham County, when he was thrown from the four-wheeler. It then rolled over him once, troopers said.

The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, died at a nearby hospital.
