EDMOND — An 8-year-old boy killed Thursday morning after he was run over by a parade float has been identified as Aidan Hooper, police report.

Edmond police spokeswoman Jennifer Monroe said the boy either fell or jumped off the float and was run over by one of its wheels about 11 a.m. near Ayers Street and Bauman Avenue. The float was returning to the staging area for floats on the northeastern edge of the University of Central Oklahoma's campus.

His father, Quinton Hooper, 44, was driving the float, police said.

The boy was taken to OU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A nurse who happened to be nearby performed CPR on him before he was taken to the hospital. His name has not been released by police pending the conclusion of the investigation, Monroe said.
