Boys basketball roundup: Second-half surge sparks Dale to win over Bethel

For the fifth time this season, the Pirates erased a halftime deficit, defeating Bethel 54-50 Friday night in the NewsOK Varsity Fans' Choice Game of the Week.

David Montgomery and Tyler Sanders had 16 points apiece for Edmond North, while Austin Usery had 11.

Putnam City North trailed 47-34 at halftime, but rallied behind a 33-point performance from T.J. Jones. John Robert Simon added 18, and Kennedy Sullivan had 15.

TEEL'S 3 LIFTS STILLWATER

Carson Teel's go-ahead 3-pointer with eight seconds left gave Stillwater a 48-47 victory over Bishop McGuinness.

Stillwater fell behind 17-3 to start the game, but fought back behind Rico Thompson, who finished with 21 points. Brett Budke added 12 for the Pioneers.

Will Lienhard led the Irish with 15 points.

GRANT'S GUTIERREZ HAS TRIPLE-DOUBLE IN WIN

U.S. Grant won for the fourth time in the last nine days behind a triple-double from Jose Gutierrez.

The 6-foot-7 Gutierrez had 25 points, 14 rebounds and 11 blocked shots in the 49-34 victory over John Marshall. U.S. Grant won the Little Axe Tournament last weekend.

Devion Smith led John Marshall with 13 points.

Moore got 19 points from Maurice Davenport in a 54-48 win over Norman North. ... Shaquille Morris scored 21 and Sam Kreutzer added 16 as Edmond Memorial downed Del City 60-46. ... Putnam City West brothers Latron and Tyson Jolly combined for 34 points to lead the Patriots to a 67-54 win over Edmond Santa Fe. ... Southmoore missed a potential tying shot at the buzzer, giving Westmoore a 58-55 win behind 18 points from Dillon Thompson. ... Five Midwest City players reached double figures in a 68-48 win over Norman. ... Jared Price had 28 points to lead Carl Albert to a 65-48 win over Noble. ... Douglass' Stephen Clark had 30 points and brother Deondre Clark had 20 in an 80-55 win over Capitol Hill.
