Boy's stabbing death was accident, medical examiner says

The stabbing death of a 4-year-old boy Saturday in west Oklahoma City was determined to be an accident, the state medical examiner said.

Bralyn Shively of Oklahoma City, was accidentally stabbed in the chest by his uncle, Chris Coates, 35, of Chariton, Iowa, police reported.

Medical examiner’s spokeswoman Amy Elliott said Tuesday the cause of death was a stab wound to the right side of his chest, and the manner of death is described as an accident. An official autopsy report is not available. has disabled the comments for this article.
