NORMAN — Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford underwent surgery to repair his right, throwing shoulder on Wednesday in Birmingham, Ala.
The 35-minute procedure was finished at 10:45 Wednesday morning and had no complications. Bradford, though still experiencing soreness, was resting comfortably by 12:15.
"It all looked great in the end and everyone seems to feel very good about it,” said
Kent Bradford, Sam Bradford’s father, in a release.
Kent Bradford was able to watch some of the surgery, performed by renowned surgeon
Dr. James Andrews, and said the reigning
Heisman winner would go through a limited exercise session on Wednesday before returning home in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Bradford sprained the AC joint in the shoulder in the
Sooners’ season-opening loss to
Brigham Young on Sept. 5. He returned to the field five weeks later against
Baylor, but the following week, aggravated the injury when he landed on the shoulder against
Texas on just the second series of the game.
On Sunday, Bradford announced his plans to have surgery and enter April’s NFL Draft. Redshirt freshman
Landry Jones has made four starts in Bradford’s absence, and made appearances in all seven games.
Jones has thrown for 1,363 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.
