Branson is for the whole family

Between the attractions, the shows and the natural wonders, children of all ages — and their parents — can find fun in the Missouri tourist town.

No doubt about it, there's no place like Branson.

Where else can you find an enormous mock-up of the Titanic down the street from a towering model of King Kong? Or a showboat where the headliner is a musician/aerialist who dons a sequined leotard, hoists herself high above the stage and plays the violin upside down? Or a theme park that was built atop one of the state's deepest caves but now features a record-setting 16-story roller coaster?

If you happen to have three children whose wide-ranging ages make it difficult to do much together beyond watching “SpongeBob SquarePants,” Branson, for all its quirks, just might be an ideal road-trip destination. After all, there's entertainment everywhere: Even our hotel, the Welk Resort Branson, offers 24/7 self-serve mini golf, an indoor/outdoor water park and “The Price is Right Live!” in its on-site theater.

My husband, Patrick, took our trio — Chris, 18; Gabe, 6; and Brenna, 2½ — on a nine-day Branson adventure this spring, and between the attractions, the shows and the natural wonders, we were able to find plenty to do to please the whole family.
