U.S. Senate hopeful Andrew Rice seems shocked that negative campaign advertising is being used against him by incumbent Republican Jim Inhofe. Is he playing the victim card?

Rice needs to play some kind of card to overcome Inhofe’s substantial edge in popularity and name recognition, not to mention that the Democratic presidential ticket is so unpopular that party activists are being urged to go do volunteer work for Obama-Biden in a battleground state because the Oklahoma outcome is all but decided.
Six years ago, when Inhofe last faced voters, he won with 57 percent of the vote against a Democratic nominee (former Gov. David Walters) who was far better known than Rice. But 2002 was a good year for Republicans and Walters had a lot of baggage. This is a good year for Democrats and Rice doesn’t have that baggage.
"We needed a couple of good breaks to win this,” Walters said then. "The breaks never did materialize.”
Walters and Inhofe went negative in their advertising. It worked for Inhofe but obviously not for Walters.
The latter won 25 of Oklahoma’s 77 counties, most of them small. Some of those counties rejected Rice in the Democratic primary in favor of a no-name candidate who had virtually no campaign.
Inhofe won in urban/suburban areas by margins as high as 2-1. That, not Inhofe’s advertising, is the negative thing Rice should worry about.

BHO-Roth-Rice--dangerous ultra-liberal radicals.Roth is homosexual activist bought by Chesapeake like a piece of cheap meat.Rice is a real weenie--quit whining Andrew.BO is most liberal senator and his 'mentor' was the anti-white Jeremiah Wright.Dems are burnt toast.
Richard, the term "negative advertising" does not have anything to do with lies or truth, it simply means one is pointing out his opponents flaws rather than noting his assets. I think it is weird that you should begrudge one pro-Democratic editorial among the dozens of Pro-Republican ones. Are you so naive as to think that ALL of us in Oklahoma are Republicans? Are you so naive as to think that ALL politicians don't lie? Even Presidents lie and I would bet you have done some of it in your lifetime.
It's typical of a Republican to sling mud at their opponents. After all, Inhofe hasn't done anything positive since he's been in office. I hope the majority of Oklahomans can see that. We must vote for Andrew Rice!
Instead of crying foul play...Rice should refute the allegations with facts. If Rice did vote to stop taxpayer-funded abortions then he should back it up with his record. Rice should give us facts refuting Inhofe's claim that he voted against tax cuts as well. If Rice didn't actively work to undermine Oklahoma's traditional marriage amendment then he should provide the evidence to counter Inhofe's claim. So far, Rice has claimed that Inhofe is not playing nice. The only thing that might not be nice is Rice's attempt to fool people into thinking that he shares Oklahoma values.
how can the writer of this editorial keep their job when they blatantly lie within it? "negative adds", so far we have seen the truth of rice's actions, not lies. oh yes, demoliars do not ever like a truthful statement, it goes against their make up. who has paid off the unoklahoman for their wanton support of the demoliar rice?
