Brenda Shemayme Edwards elected Caddo Nation chairwoman

BINGER — Brenda Shemayme Edwards was elected chairwoman of the Caddo Nation on Saturday.

Edwards edged out Dwight Merle Pickering by just four votes, while Todd Downing Goodman won the vice-chairman position by a large margin, according to election results provided by Donna Benitez, election board chairwoman.

Barbara Barr was elected treasurer and Marilyn Williams Threlkeld is now the tribal representative in Binger, Benitez said.

Jennifer Reeder Crump — who ran unopposed — is now the tribe's Oklahoma City representative.
