Discussion of Brent Rinehart's campaign comic book has spread far and wide, reaching national media and Web sites far from Oklahoma. Depending upon your political tilt, this is either great or terrible.

The debate about the comic, which features gay men in togas and the devil, continues on NewsOK.com. Here are some comments.

Phil Sisco of Yukon: "This just shows the immaturity of Rinehart. Think about that when you vote for a new commissioner. Leaving the seat he holds now vacant would be better than having him there for a second term.”

Sally Jones of Del City: "Election time does not negate freedom of speech or off-beat comic books. I may not agree with Rinehart in all areas, but he has never made his stance secret on any issue.”

Debbie Rodgers of Oklahoma City: "This is a guy who clearly needs professional psychological help. Too bad that we, the public, can't have him committed to a long-term, in-patient facility.”

Michael Loague of Newalla: "Good for him for exposing the ‘good old boy' people. He won't be re-elected but I thank him for standing up against impossible odds. Way to go, Brent!”

Jonathon Storment of Oklahoma City: "Rinehart is an embarrassment to Oklahoma County and, in my opinion, his actions are nothing more than a slap in the face of every good citizen who was tricked into voting for him last election cycle.”

Jerry Tobey Sr. of Guthrie: "Sic 'em, Brent!”

Kevin Bishop of Shawnee: "The comic book is amateurish, however it provided me with a good laugh! That stuff with (Sheriff John) Whetsel is just hilarious! Yeah, what's up with that ‘armored assault vehicle' that was sitting in front of the station in Midwest City? It looks like it is from the French-Algerian war and has been through several minefields. Are they actually planning on using that thing? And there certainly are issues with the county jail. I think this comic book is a new political first.”

Richard Reiss of Oklahoma City: "It just shows how the (Democrats) will say anything anytime, but you cannot do the same. They just hate it when the truth comes out.”

Ashley Ladd of Yukon: "Supposedly Rinehart wrote this? I don't know about you guys, but I wouldn't want a county commissioner with such lack of detail. Or the inability to use spell check.”

Why do elected Oklahomans keep making Oklahoma irrelevant with public displays of ignorance? PLEASE STOP IT! I don't want to be painted with the same brush as Rinehart or that other gay-bashing crazy lady politician - can't remember her name. I was in NYC this weekend and sure enough...

I think the comic book was just one step further than needed, but I also think it is great that he tells it all when regarding whetsel. He needs to get out of there and take his "toys" with him. He is a disgrace! It just makes me sick the way he "runs" the jail and his employees. They all think they are above and beyond the law! Whether Rinehart is in office or not I hope he continues his fight on getting us a new sheriff!

We are "new" to Oklahoma City due to job transfers. I am beginning to think we have made a mistake? I'm hoping the entire State or the State Government is like this?

He was interviewed on CNN yesterday and it was pretty sad. Just when you think we can't look any worse as a state, somebody lowers the bar again. Wonder how bad the next one is going to be.

The county commissioner post has no need for politics like Rinehart has done. Instead of asking who he has attacked in the county government, the easier question is who hasn't he attacked in his quest for more power?
