Country music star Kenny Chesney beat Blake Henderson to the punch.

Henderson, a senior running back and linebacker for Bridge Creek, had been working on trying to incorporate football and country music into a song.

But Chesney came out with "Boys of Fall" recently so Henderson's project has to be put on hold.

Guess he'll have to go back to what he normally does — being one of the top running backs in the state.

Though the Bobcats are more known for quarterback Ryan Spangler, who threw for more than 3,100 yards and 33 touchdowns, and his host of receivers, Henderson put up some gaudy numbers of his own.

As a junior, Henderson rushed for more than 1,500 yards and 26 touchdowns. Scary thing? Bridge Creek has 21 starters back this year.

"This season is going to be a lot of fun," Henderson said. "I love what we do. We have a great power running game."

At 6-foot and 195 pounds, Henderson is perfect for what the Bobcats need on both sides of the ball.

And if football doesn't work, he's got one heck of a backup plan: country music.

Henderson began playing guitar more than eight years ago under his grandfather's tutelage. His current guitar came from his grandpa.

He never thought too much about it and was just having fun when an opportunity came around to audition for "America's Got Talent," a reality television show.

"We had no doubt he could do it," Spangler said. "He's just really good, and we wanted him to pursue his dream."
