KRASNAYA POLYANA, Russia (AP) — British freestyle skier Rowan Cheshire will miss Wednesday night's debut of women's halfpipe with a concussion.

Cheshire spent the night in the hospital after crashing during training over the weekend. She was treated and released but British team officials pulled her out of the competition because she needs more time to recover.

British coach Pat Sharples said the team is relieved the 18-year-old Cheshire is "on the mend" but didn't want to risk further injury.

Cheshire tweeted a graphic photo of herself after the crash. She had several lacerations on her face and a bandage above her right eye.
