Former Oklahoma State golfer Rickie Fowler is continuing his blitz of this year's majors.
Fowler enters the weekend in a six-way tie for third place at the British Open at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake, England). Fowler shot his second consecutive round of 69, moving him to 6-under for the tournament, and six shots behind tournament leader Rory McIlroy (-12), who put together twin rounds of 66 on Thursday and Friday.
Dustin Johnson is alone in second place at 8-under.
Fowler is tied with Sergio Garcia, Francesco Molinari, Charl Schwartzel, and American Ryan Moore. Fowler has finished in the top five in each major in 2014 (T-5th at Masters, T-2nd at U.S. Open).
Hunter Mahan (OSU) has played his was into the weekend with rounds of 71 and 73 to make par. The projected cut is +2.
University of Oklahoma product Todd Hamilton missed the cut at +8.
