Oklahoma State football: Broken Arrow's Devon Thomas commits to OSU

Thomas had committed to Oklahoma in mid-November, but decommitted last week, feeling he had rushed his decision.

But his strong relationship with OSU running backs coach Jemal Singleton and the rest of the staff swayed him.

“I've been over to OSU a lot the last couple seasons, and the coaches were telling me a lot of stuff about their facilities and everything, so I did my research on it and found out all of it was 100 percent,” Thomas said. “Coach Singleton is an awesome coach. He's coached a lot of great backs over the last few years, a lot of 1,000-yard backs.”

At 5-foot-10, 190 pounds, Thomas rushed for 495 yards and seven touchdowns, playing in only seven games. An undisclosed off-the-field issue sidelined him for the start of the season.

Thomas burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 2011, rushing for 1,775 yards and 22 touchdowns on just 180 carries.

He is rated by Scout.com as the nation's No. 12 running back in the 2014 class.

Thomas has been on multiple unofficial visits to Oklahoma State over the last two seasons, the most recent coming last weekend.

He has been getting calls from a variety of other programs, including Alabama, but he feels set on Stillwater.

“It's close to where I live, and I like that,” he said. “I'm just glad that the recruiting process is over.”
