The Oklahoma Corporation Commission's former director of administration says he's a candidate for a seat on the three-member commission.
Brooks Mitchell said Monday he is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat held by long-time Commissioner Bob Anthony.
A native of Seminole, the 50-year-old Mitchell is a certified public accountant who has worked for the commission as director of administration, director of the Petroleum Storage Tank Division and as an aide to former Commissioner Jeff Cloud. Mitchell resigned from the commission in January.
Mitchell says he believes the agency that regulates public utilities and the state's oil and natural gas industry needs to be modernized. He said he will work to accomplish that with new technology.
The three-day filing period for corporation commission and other elective seats begins on Wednesday.
