Budget-crunching cities are urging residents to shop locally
With the arrival of the Black Friday shopping frenzy, municipal officials who are busy slashing budgets due to depressed sales-tax revenue are encouraging residents to buy local this holiday season.
“That’s really the way for people to help their local economy,” Bixby Finance Director Becky Byers said. “If you have money, go out and spend it in our stores this year, rather than online or out of town.”
