EDMOND — A building that has been home to a number of restaurants since 1960, on the busiest intersection in Edmond, has been torn down.
A Midwest Wrecking crew arrived Wednesday and the building at 33rd Street and Broadway was demolished by the next day.
Kabuki Steak and Sushi Bar was the last of several restaurants to operate in the 7,395-square-foot building. Portobello's Italian Grill and Wine Bar, Cocina De Mino and West Oaks were in business there before the hibachi grill restaurant opened in 2008.
Oklahoma County assessor records indicate the property was valued at $1.3 million. The owner is listed at SFR & Realty in Oklahoma City.
City officials said no paperwork has been filed to build on the southeast corner of the intersection.
