Bumper stickers give some insight about drivers

I'm not a bumper sticker type of guy. I don't have one on my car, but I do like to read them on other vehicles.

You can learn a lot about a perfect stranger just by the bumper sticker on their car. I can tell what college team they support, their religious views or political affiliation.

I can tell you if they have an honor student or a student who can beat up the other person's honor student.

I know if you belong to a fraternity or sorority, and I can tell if you have a sense of humor.

Oddly, I haven't seen a lot of presidential campaign stickers around Edmond lately. But I have seen a collection of interesting stickers in the past few days.

This sticker was on an Acura: "Shhh! I'm Listening To A Book.”

The driver of this car obviously was not a morning person: "Give Me Coffee And No One Gets Hurt.”

The guy behind the wheel of this car is either having marital problems or soon will be: "My Wife's Other Car Is A Broom.”

This sticker was on the back of a Volkswagen bug: "Honk If You Love Peace And Quiet.”

I couldn't agree more with the sentiments expressed on this sticker: "Hang Up And Drive.”

School topics
I received a nice note from Diana Harbolt , the executive director of Edmond's Citizens Caring For Children, about the story I wrote on the organization's school supply giveaway. "To date, we have seen over 500 children and expect to exceed the number of children we saw last year. Children continue to come into foster care even after school starts and need supplies and clothes, so we will be there for them,” she said.

Ryan Hukill of Edmond added his comments to the Edmond blog about a four-day school week to save energy. "Interesting approach, but I tend to agree with the theory that idle time would cause problems,” he said.

Sharon Johnson also added comments to the Edmond blog on the topic of school uniforms.

"Uniforms would certainly cut down the problems associated with inappropriate clothing and the pressure to wear the right clothes in order to fit in,” she said. "It also saves time due to the ‘I don't know what to wear' whine.”

My bumper sticker says "Kids in public schools don't have a prayer".

Uniforms is an excellent idea. My grandson attends a school with uniform policy. Just make sure they are simple. His is blue slacks and white shirt available off the rack at any discount or department store. A four day school week? Why not? Shirley
