Bureau scouts for pro baseball

The Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau is a centralized scouting organization within the Baseball Office of the Commissioner. This scouting bureau employs many full-time and part-time scouts throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico who provide information on amateur prospects as a part of its mission to support the efforts of MLB clubs in the First-Year Player Draft. This scouting bureau also provides professional scouting services, including the collection of video footage of players throughout the professional ranks, both domestically and internationally. Founded in 1974 as an independent organization supported by the clubs, the Scouting Bureau has officially been under the domain of Major League Baseball since 1985.
