Q: Can consumers benefit from choosing higher deductibles?

A: Yes. Generally, the higher the deductible, the lower the premium. But be sure to work closely with an agent to choose deductibles that correspond with the cost of risk and your ability to manage how much risk to take on.

Q: Are there other ways to help keep the cost of policies lower?

A: You should save money by combining your home, autos and all other coverage needs with one company. This also will benefit you by having one agent represent your interest and help you manage your overall insurance needs. Consumers also should consider installing storm-related materials, such as wind- and hail-resistant roofing. Such materials may lessen the risk of future storm damage and also may afford policyholders discounts on their premiums.
