Businesses close to the damaged area sold their in-stock merchandise and were ordering more.
Emily Hanan, Walmart Supercenter’s customer service manager, said, "We sold a lot of weather radios, flashlights and batteries. We sent a load of flashlights and batteries to our Neighborhood Market store at 15th and Western where they are without power.”
The Walmart is at 2200 W Danforth Road, just across the street from Homestead housing addition where damage was reported.
Just across the street at Westlake ACE Hardware, 821 W Danforth Road, three generators were sold shortly after the storm hit.
"We have more supplies coming in from our 10 Oklahoma City stores,” said Gary Graham, Westlake’s floor manager.
Lowe’s at 2401 N Kelly Ave. donated water, spray paint and tarps to the command center that was set up at Mitch Park.
"We sold three or four generators today,” said John Lemons, Lowe’s office manager. "That’s more than we sell a week during an ice storm.”
The store stocked up on tarps, work gloves and cases of water. Lemons said more generators were on the way to Edmond.
