BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (AP) — Turns out, Shaun White will receive a little bit of a break between finals as race officials at the U.S. Grand Prix decided to move the slopestyle event to Sunday.
Heavy snow and low visibility originally caused the race jury to postpone slopestyle from Friday to Saturday morning, with the halfpipe final set for later that afternoon. Officials revised that plan Friday evening, opting to switch slopestyle to Sunday instead.
White, the two-time defending Olympic champion, is trying to make the U.S. team for the Sochi Games in both disciplines.
Weather permitting, the ski halfpipe competition will now be held Saturday morning and after that the snowboard halfpipe final, where White is a heavy favorite.
