MOSCOW (AP) — Dutch left back Alexander Buttner will join Dynamo Moscow from Manchester United after he failed to establish himself in two years at Old Trafford.
Dynamo said on Tuesday a contract had been agreed with Buttner, but said it needed to finalize "technical details" before formally completing the transfer.
Buttner signed a five-year contract with United in 2012 but made just 13 English Premier League appearances while serving as backup to left back Patrice Evra.
At Dynamo, Buttner joins former EPL players such as winger Yuri Zhirkov and center back Christopher Samba, who helped the side to finish fourth in the Russian league last season.
"I want to play in the Champions League and win trophies," Buttner said on Dynamo's website. "A very strong team is being assembled at Dynamo, and I'm sure we'll already be able to fight for first place this season."
By moving to Dynamo, Buttner will be able to play in the Europa League next season, unlike United, which failed to qualify for any European competition.
