And now for another report from the
Wall Street Fast Hot Money Insider Expert Investor Ticker Roundtable.
Gasoline prices shot up today on news that oil supplies were threatened. It's unclear what made the oil supplies so insecure, but you could tell they felt threatened because gasoline prices shot up.
We at the WSFHMIEITR have been keeping our expert eyes focused on the situation, though, and here's what we've come up with so far: war. Or a hurricane. Or maybe a refinery shut down for lunch. Or some kid let the air out of the tires on a tanker truck.
Take your pick. It's all good.
Now, let's turn to stocks. They're down, which is way different than yesterday, when they were up, or the day before that, when they were mixed. The reason for the retreat, the advance and the uncertain milieu is that institutional investors are skittish, causing them to pull back, become aggressive or engage in profit-taking, which is what we at the WSF-etc. plan to do if we can get our ratings up.
To help that happen, we'll toss out even more financial terms to boost our credibility: broader market, weakening dollar, persistent nervousness, sluggish equities, and fleeing to Treasuries. In addition, we plan to yell things at each other until we can convince you we're better at predicting financial markets than a blindfolded chimpanzee throwing darts.
As a bonus, we'll also scroll lots of numbers and letters along the edges of your TV screen to create the impression we're paying attention to all that, too.
We realize some of you might worry that we experts really don't have a clue, that we're just taking guesses and making them sound sophisticated, then grabbing a cut of our client's money regardless of whether our guesses pan out. But let us assure you that despite your uncertain milieu, this is not the time to pull back.
Don't be so skittish.
