Waiver hearing results

The state Board of Education voted Thursday on student appeals to graduate despite not passing state-mandated end-of-instruction exams. Here's what was decided:

• 2 students were given a waiver from meeting the state testing requirements because of extenuating circumstances. They are from Tulsa Union Public Schools.

• 1 student was given a waiver for being accepted into a qualifying university. The student is from Oklahoma City Public Schools.

• 9 students were denied waivers. They are from Choctaw, Lawton, Mannford, Marlow, Norman, Oklahoma City, Strother, Tahlequah and Tulsa Union.

1 student appeal was dismissed because the student, from Schulter, had not been denied a diploma yet.
