• 43,000: Approximate number of students in the district

• 75: Number of regular schools

• 13: Number of charter schools

• 94: Percentage of average daily attendance

• 1,000: Approximate number of homeless

students

• 90: Percentage of students eligible for free or reduced-price lunch

• 13,000: Approximate number of students who take district transportation each day

• 3.7: Dropout percentage rate

• 18.7: Average ACT composite score, compared with 20.7 statewide and 21.1 nationally

• 45: Percentage of students who are Hispanic, the largest ethnic group in the district. The rest of the district is 27 percent black, 20 percent white,

5 percent American Indian, 2 percent Asian and 1 percent multiracial.

• 66: Percentage of students who speak English at home. About 32 percent speak Spanish, and the other 2 percent speak a variety of languages, including Vietnamese, Arabic and Chinese.
