Cancer is the leading cause of death nationwide and the second-leading cause of death in Oklahoma, according to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The American Cancer Society predicts that more than 17,000 Oklahomans will be diagnosed with cancer in 2008, and more than 1 million nationwide.
Next to prevention, early cancer detection is the best way to improve survival rates, according to the society.
