Calera talks trash with fire, police departments
CALERA -- No one was angry when Calera students gathered en masse to talk trash with the local fire and police departments.
Actually, the adults preferred it.
The idea, the Durant Daily Democrat reported, was to get the young people to work as teams to donate recyclables while learning how to support the firefighters and law officers.
The newspaper reported that both departments tried to convince the children to donate the items to their respective agency.
The departments are trying to see who can collect the most recycled goods during a nine-week period.
More fun is ahead.
