California to send inmates to Sayre

California officials plan to send slightly more than 1,300 of their inmates to a privately run prison in Sayre.

The inmates will be sent to Sayre’s North Fork Correctional Center. The prison is run by Corrections Corporation of America. Company spokesman Steve Owen said the move will create about 200 jobs.

Corrections Corporation of America houses 7,900 California offenders in its prisons in various states.
