Alexander has spent the past four years as an assistant in the Lone Star Conference, three years at East Central and one at Texas A&M-Kingsville. This will be his first head coaching position.

Alexander is from Marlow and started his coaching career at Bacone where he was an assistant men's basketball coach and the head coach of the men's and women's golf teams.

He takes over an NCAA Division II program with only one winning season in the past nine years. Maurice Lietzke resigned after going 18-35 in two seasons at Cameron. The Aggies were 6-21 last season.

Cameron opens its season Nov. 8 with an exhibition game at Oklahoma.
