Canadian County sheriff’s deputies seized 100 pounds of marijuana Friday after stopping a tractor-trailer hauling cars on Interstate 40, authorities said Monday.

The tractor-trailer was heading east on I-40 from California hauling vehicles to various places across the country when deputies pulled the driver over for swerving, Undersheriff Chris West said.

Deputies were curious about one of the vehicles, a 1988 Chevy Blazer heading to Georgia.

The truck driver agreed to let deputies search the vehicle. They found 50 packages of hydroponic marijuana, a growing method that does not use soil. The pot weighed 100 pounds and had a street value of about $500,000, West said.

Deputies released the driver, as they do not think he knew about the hidden stash of marijuana, West said. has disabled the comments for this article.
