USDA praises Oklahoma efforts

The USDA Food and Nutrition Service will honor state Department of Human Services Director Howard Hendrick today. Hendrick and his agency are being recognized for achievements in improving the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program. Federal officials also will present a $2.2 million bonus award to Oklahoma for improvements implemented by DHS. The USDA says that Oklahoma’s efforts demonstrate good stewardship of federal dollars.

Ag official plans El Reno visit
EL RENO — U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will visit with local residents Wednesday about assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Vilsack will meet with residents from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Conference Center at Redlands Community College, 1300 S Country Club Road. Doors open at 8:45 a.m. The meeting is open to the public.
