DOCTOR WINS AARP AWARD
AARP Oklahoma presented Dr. Gerald E. Gustafson with its highest award Monday at the state Capitol. Gustafson was given the Andrus Community Service Award for his work in getting legislation passed that formed the Tulsa County Medication Recycling Program. As a result, more than $5 million worth of unused medicines from nursing homes has been recycled by giving them to needy residents in Tulsa.
FOOD accord is reached
Sysco Oklahoma LLC has been awarded the state’s food contract. The contract was competitively bid and awarded using new criteria developed by the Central Services Department. The agency estimates the contract will result in a savings of about 9.5 percent of the $11.9 million historically spent for food by executive branch agencies.
