A man who told Oklahoma City police he set his car on fire because it was crawling with bugs was in jail Tuesday on an arson complaint.

Officers were called to the fire in the 1500 block of SW 86 about 4:30 a.m. Saturday. Oklahoma City firefighters extinguished the fire.

Police said they found the owner, Nick Son, 58, sitting in the fetal position inside his home surrounded by piles of trash that were about 4 feet tall.

Officers questioned Son, who was smoking two cigarettes simultaneously, according to the police report. He told them he had not slept or eaten in days.

Son told officers bugs were crawling through his car and that’s why he set it on fire, police said.

A neighbor told police Son had set things on fire in his front yard in the past.

Son was booked into the Oklahoma County jail on $5,000 bail.
