Cardinals C Molina on leave
ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina has been placed on bereavement leave after a death in the family, leaving his participation in next week's All-Star Game in jeopardy.
The team said Friday that the grandfather of his wife had died and that Molina has returned to Puerto Rico.
Catcher Bryan Anderson was recalled from Triple-A Memphis before Friday night's game against the Marlins.
Anderson was batting .210 with two home runs and 21 RBI in 64 games for Memphis this season.
