The CARE Center will host its annual fundraising gala Friday at the Skirvin Hilton hotel.
The CARE Center, which stands for Child Abuse Response and Evaluation, is a place where abused children can speak with counselors and police officers who are investigating their mistreatment. This nonprofit organization brings children to a home-like environment where they are provided with compassion and care.
A Night with the Stars will have auctions, a dinner and celebrities on hand to benefit The CARE Center. One of the 12 celebrities invited, John O’Hurley, will host the event.
“I’m looking forward to having some new people come to Oklahoma City and to raise awareness and funds for a worthy cause,” said Jemma Spemmons, the 2014 gala chairwoman for The CARE Center.
Throughout the night there will be people talking about The CARE Center and the children it helps. The celebrity guests will get to know other attendants at the event and will even be auctioning off some of their personal items.
Some of the celebrities, such as actor Michael Dudikoff (“American Ninja”), will be flying halfway across the country just to support The CARE Center. This will be Dudikoff’s first time attending the event; he said he feels very privileged to have been asked to go to such a great event.
“I feel very excited and honored to be part of this,” Dudikoff said. “It means a lot to me to do something like this.”
Dudikoff is taking time out of his busy schedule to come. He has recently finished shooting the documentaries “Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films” and “The Go-Go Boys: The Inside Story of Cannon Films.”
Tickets are available at www.celebgalaokc.com. The event will begin at 6 p.m.
