Carl Albert senior Corey Zangari was impressive Saturday night in the Under Armour All-America Game at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
The right-hander who is verbally committed to Oklahoma State earned the start for the National team, throwing two scoreless innings.
He also competed in the home run derby, but failed to hit a home run. Still, he did win the Kelly Kulina Award, which goes to the player who demonstrated the best attitude, work ethic, dedication and enthusiasm.
Zangari was the catcher on The Oklahoman’s Big All-City team this spring after hitting .505 with 11 homers and 56 RBIs. He did not pitch for the Titans, but he has been clocked in the mid-upper 90s while possessing a sharp breaking ball.
The game will be broadcasted Sunday at 7p.m. on MLB Network.
