Carl Albert's Gioya Carter named Suburban Conference MVP

Carl Albert’s Gioya Carter was named the Suburban Conference’s Most Valuable Player.

Carter, an Oklahoma signee, helped the Titans reach the semifinals of the Class 5A state tournament before losing to fellow Suburban Conference member Shawnee.

El Reno sophomore Sheridan Grey was named Newcomer of the Year and Deer Creek’s Whitney Jones the Defensive Player of the Year. Shawnee’s Wendi Wells was named the Coach of the Year.

Deer Creek’s Ashley Gibson, Piedmont’s Sarah Parker, Guthrie’s Melinda Murillo and Shawnee’s Micaela Yu and McKenzie Cooper were named to the first team.

Carl Albert’s Jordan Gilbert, Deer Creek’s Alexa Adair, Chickasha’s Dominique Golightly, Shawnee’s Bailey Taylor and Piedmont’s Ashley Almond were named second team.

El Reno’s Regan Owen, Noble’s Lauren Brown, Deer Creek’s Bayli Blanchard, Chickasha’s Sierra Hamilton and Guthrie’s Micayla Haynes were on the third team.
