Carrie Underwood is featured in 'What People Earn' issue of Parade
What a difference eight years can make.
Country music superstar and Checotah native Carrie Underwood is highlighted in Parade Magazine's 30th Annual Report: “What People Earn, Then and Now.” The magazine describes the issue as “a peek at American paychecks over the past 30 years: the ups, the downs, and the surprising turnarounds.”
As revealed on the cover, Underwood made $15,980 as a waitress in 2004. Now, her income is pegged at $20 million.
Since releasing “Some Hearts” in 2005, Underwood has sold more than 14 million albums, including 2007's “Carnival Ride” and 2009's “Play On.” She's amassed 14 No. 1 singles, six of which she co-wrote, and became the first country artist and the only “American Idol” winner to achieve 10 No. 1 singles from his or her first two albums. Underwood is a five-time Grammy Award winner, a two-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, a three-time Country Music Association and ACM Female Vocalist winner, and a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
Her new album, “Blown Away,” is set for release in May. The first single, “Good Girl,” already has hit No. 1 on the Billboard Digital Country Songs Chart.
In 2011, Underwood made her film acting debut in the movie “Soul Surfer.”
The “What People Earn” issue of Parade will be included in Sunday's edition of The Oklahoman.
