Cars built of household repair items race in Oklahoma City
The ninth annual Construction Derby brought out racers and cars of all stripes to benefit the low-income elderly in Oklahoma City.
Using plumbing and light fixtures, shingles, paint utensils, door knobs and other common household repair items, teams competing in Rebuilding Together OKC's ninth annual Construction Derby raced near downtown on Sunday. The creative cars were classed into professional or amateur divisions for competition and judged in time trials, design and other categories. The nonprofit uses the derby to raise funds to improve the homes and lives of low-income, elderly homeowners in the Oklahoma City metro.
