Casady junior T'Quan Wallace never expected he would be thrust into the starting quarterback role last season.

But after an injury forced him into action, he hasn't looked back.

Wallace finished the season with just more than 2,000 yards passing and 17 touchdowns, but Casady missed the Southwest Preparatory Conference playoffs due to a tiebreaker.

Wallace recently sat down with The Oklahoman to talk about the upcoming season.

Q: You took over middle of last year at quarterback. What was that like for you?

“It was like getting thrown into the fire. Going into the second quarter, we were in a tie with Holland Hall, so it was a lot of pressure for me to do good for my teammates.”

What's this summer been like for you knowing you're the starter?

“Just working on things like leadership and working on things like my footwork. Anything that can help, really. I've been working on my footwork and using my hips to drive the ball farther. I guess looking over the film and seeing what the defense is running.”

You open with Holland Hall, the team you lost the tiebreaker to last season. What are you looking for in that opener?

“Just to go out and win, basically. Execute.”

What kind of fun things did you do this summer?

“Some stuff like go swimming, fishing, hanging out with friends. I went to see a couple movies like ‘Scary Movie 5,' but that wasn't very good.”

What's your favorite thing to do over the summer?

“I guess spend time with myself, which would be fishing.”
