National Read Across America Day celebrates Dr. Seuss' birthday and the joys of reading. The National Education Association estimates that about 45 million people nationwide picked up a book to mark the occasion.

The Cat in the Hat, a popular character in some of Seuss' books, also made an appearance at the Fountains at Canterbury.
