CD review: Various artists ‘This Warm December — A Brushfire Holiday Vol. 2'

“This Warm December — A Brushfire Holiday, Volume 2” is the musical equivalent of a box of chocolates with a sampler's variety of seasonal songs from an assortment of gifted artists.

From the jam band world, ALO (Animal Liberation Orchestra) singer-keyboardist Zach Gill opens the festivities with “Party Hard,” an amusing little holiday drinking song that mixes ukulele, banjo, piano and brushed-snare in an arrangement reminiscent of John Sebastian-style good-time jug-band shuffle, delivering such lighthearted lines as: “I woke up this mornin', last night was a blur / Three more parties to go, and I must concur / That it looks like we're gonna party hard this Christmas.”
