It's never too early to instill good eating habits in your children. As my baby gets to the age where she's eating more than just formula and the simplest baby foods, I've been trying to feed her a wide variety of foods to keep her open to different tastes, textures, etc.

I don't want to make the same mistakes I made when my 16-year-old was a baby — her favorites were bananas and an apple/chicken blend. She's always been a picky eater. It's hard to get her to eat her veggies, and her two favorite foods are not exactly healthy: fettuccine Alfredo and sesame chicken. Of course, I do insist that she eat the healthy fare that I cook (which always includes fresh veggies), but if she had her way, she'd have her favorites every night.

I found a blog by Dina Rose that sparked my interest. Itsnotaboutnutrition.squarespace.com is a comprehensive site for parents trying to feed their children foods they like while keeping them healthy.
