A chance of rain is riding in the wind today in central Oklahoma.

Winds could gust around 50 mph, however, and blow away any precipitation. The chance of rain in the Oklahoma City area is 30 percent.

A high wind warning has been issued for western Oklahoma where winds could gust up to 60 mph. The warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Three counties in southern Oklahoma in the Duncan area, Stephens, Jefferson and Cotton counties are under red flag warnings for high wind until 9 p.m., the National Weather Service reports.

The Oklahoma City area forecast is as follows:

Today...Mostly cloudy in the morning then clearing. Chance of rain showers. Windy. Much cooler. Highs around 60. Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around 50 mph. Chance of showers 30 percent.

Tonight...Clear. Windy. Colder. Lows in the mid 30s. Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to around 45 mph decreasing to 15 to 20 mph after midnight.

Saturday...Sunny. Warmer. Highs in the lower 70s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph decreasing to up to 10 mph in the afternoon.
