CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Queen Alford, who led Jacksonville in scoring each of the last two years, is transferring to Chattanooga.

Alford, a 5-foot-10 guard from Decatur, Georgia, will sit out the 2014-15 season due to NCAA transfer rules before she becomes eligible to play for the Lady Mocs in 2015-16.

In a university release Thursday announcing the move, Chattanooga coach Jim Foster said "it is not often that you get a player of this caliber in this fashion."

Alford ranked ninth in the Atlantic Sun in scoring (13.3), 13th in rebounding (6.2) and second in steals (2.2) as a sophomore last season.

In her first season at Jacksonville, Alford averaged a 11.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game and was named the Atlantic Sun freshman of the year.
