Check out France's take on school lunches
Meat born, raised and slaughtered in France.
Every piece of vegetable and fruit cleaned and disinfected. Fresh fruits and vegetables, mind you.
Tater tots filled with broccoli. Those pesky French!
CBS News has a video highlighting the gourmet lunch menu at a public school in Paris, where all of the students get their fill of quality ingredients and healthy options. And while the cost is expensive -- about $5 per meal -- parents aren't obligated to pay the entire price if they can't afford it, as the city picks up the rest.
In the past couple of decades, school lunches made available here in the United States have been scrutinized and criticized for being the exact opposite of the French's: unhealthy, lacking quality and lacking options.
