Cheers
• To the Brewers' all-in trade for C.C. Sabathia. Milwaukee likely will lose Sabathia and ace Ben Sheets after this season, but a Wisconsin World Series is rare. Take your chances.

• To the settlement between West Virginia and ex-football coach Rich Rodriguez, who agreed to pay his alma mater the $4 million buyout for going to Michigan. It appears sports are in a settlement mood.

• To Wimbledon tradition, which demands no tiebreaker in the fifth set. The Roger Federer-Rafael Nadal epic final went into the London dusk.

Jeers
• To Brett Favre's waffling on retirement. The Green Bay legend has put the Packers in a pickle in recent years, and the latest uncertainty, after the franchise has left port with Aaron Rodgers, creates a mess for the Pack, who shouldn't be wild about a 39-year-old quarterback.

• To the All-Star Game omission of Mike Mussina, one of baseball's unsung producers. The 39-year-old Mussina is 11-6 and now has reached double-digit victories 17 straight seasons, with only one losing record. He's 261-150 for his career, and don't discount Mussina reaching 300 wins.

• To the Oakland A's trade of pitcher Rich Harden to the Cubs. Oakland general manager Billy Beane generally knows what he's doing, but the Athletics are in a pennant race. No reason to surrender this early.
