Chelsea girl injured in fall from truck

ALLUWE - An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition after being ejected from the bed of a pickup truck in Nowata County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Cheyenne Smart of Chelsea fell from the tailgate of the truck about 7 p.m. Friday in Alluwe.

The patrol says Cheyenne was riding on the tailgate when she was bounced off and struck her head on the pavement. The truck was being driven by 43-year-old John Smart of Chelsea. He wasn't injured.

She was flown to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition.
