Cherokee Nation appeals freedmen decision to its tribal Supreme Court

WASHINGTON — The Cherokee Nation filed an appeal in its tribal Supreme Court on Tuesday to defend a constitutional amendment that effectively barred freedmen who don’t have tribal blood from Cherokee citizenship.
