Over the next three years, both men will receive more than 141,000 shares of Chesapeake stock, worth about $3.7 million at Thursday's closing price of $25.95, according to the filings.

Chesapeake spokesman Jim Gipson said Thursday the company had no comment on the moves.

Chesapeake's website also reveals promotions for three other company executives. John M. Kapchinske, John K. Reinhart and Jennifer Grigsby have been elevated to senior vice president positions.

Kapchinske is senior vice president of exploration and subsurface technology. He had been the company's senior vice president for geoscience since 2011.

Reinhart is senior vice president of operations and technical services. He had been vice president of operations for Chesapeake's eastern division since 2009.

Grigsby, who had been Chesapeake's corporate secretary since 2007, is senior vice president for corporate and strategic planning.
